The Soil
“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life.”
- Wendell Berry
There are few statements as distinct, eloquent and telling of the nature of soil than the above from Wendell Berry, whom our compost is named in honor of. This underlies the undeniable significance of this bed of life, where we all feed from, tend to, and nourish. Our work with the unending cycle of life is to hold this delicate element in our hands and pour our hearts into it. Materially, by collecting food scraps and organic material, and guiding it through another phase of life in the transition to compost, and on into blended mixes as prepared soil for home gardeners, farmers, community gardens, plant lovers and anyone else invested in the flourishing of life.
